If you spent time in the fall doing your due diligence and placing your ice cleat orders BEFORE the first snowfall, then this advice is not for you. However, if you waited until late December, January or February to implement your slip and fall program than my advice to you is simple; Done is Better than Perfect.
Last summer I read an article about Facebook and how Mark Zuckerberg uses this phrase,
"Done is Better Than Perfect"
to motivate his staff to keep moving forward. The concept is simple: if you believe in an idea enough, you need to run with it before it is too late.
Preventing winter slips and falls, or any seasonal safety concern, can easily fall into this category. Winter moves fast, often too fast.
Don’t let the winter pass you by while you hem and haw over ice cleat “A” or ice cleat “B.” Don’t waste away the days negotiating price down to the penny or collecting individual shoe sizes of every employee. Do your homework, pick a product and get started. I promise you that by the end of the winter you will be closer to the ideal slip and fall program by USING strap on cleats than you will by trying to perfect the program before you ever start it.
When the winter comes to an end we are here to assist in gathering feedback and understanding what worked and what did not work. At that point we can begin working with you towards your perfect slip and fall program. But until then, done is better than perfect…and wearing an ice cleat is better than not.
